The Real Northern California

As a girl born and bred in the Bay Area, I consider myself a Northern Californian, at least compared to those in SoCal! But recently I took a road trip to Eureka and beyond with my parents, and I realized... I'm not as far north as I thought.

The towns up there have an interesting flair; they're filled with lots of vegan eating options, organic coffee and great amounts of greenery. Where in the Bay Area the trendiness is carefully calculated and perfectly placed, in the "true North" the vibes are unintentionally and almost accidentally on point.

As is always the case on Welingkar Family road trips, we bring too many snacks, try to accomplish too many things, and end up eating, invariably, at the only Chinese restaurant in every small town we visit. This time around was no exception. Hope you enjoy! (There are a lot of pictures, bear with it please, haha.) Any q's about what you see, ask away!

Some mood music (the only song I was listening to when editing):

India by 50mm, Part 5

This is the final installment in our tour of India by 50mm. It ends in Goa, the place half of my ancestors hail from, and possibly the most relaxing part of our trip. SO relaxing that all I really got were about 5 pictures. WHOOPS! I felt I still needed to include these in the group because they're pretty cool, they're from a spice plantation we visited (referenced in another post a while back,) not too far from the town of Weling, where my family comes from!

Every time I go to India, I learn a lot about my history, about the fundamental base that makes up my person. It honestly makes leaving just that little bit harder, but every time I do, it's with the knowledge that I'm a little more aware of my personality, of what makes me who I am. And, honestly, I think that's pretty cool. Be back soon to give some more current updates, and a few more pressing thoughts from India!!

India by 50mm, Part 4

When we finally made it to Jaipur, there was something regal in the air. It's known as being the part of India that had many lineages of princes and princesses until only recently. The only remainder of this rich history are the many forts and palaces that speak of the culture that once permeated Rajasthan. We got the chance to visit Amber Fort, a place of beautiful lines and colors and a magical feel (and even a few Cal fans!! GO bears!!!). Only one more stop on this India tour, so hope you're keeping up!!

India by 50mm, Part 3

When we got to Agra after the long drive from Delhi, we were tired, sorta hungry, needed a shower, and really needed to pee. But being able to see the Taj Mahal at sunset on Christmas Eve was worth all the "hassles." It will go down as one of my favorite experiences in my life, like, ever. The next morning (CHRISTMAS!!!!!) we woke up to a stocking on our hotel door, and we hurried off to our next destination, Jaipur. On the way we stopped at Fatehpur Sikri, another beautiful, breathtaking monument (sensing a pattern??). Hope you dig!!!!
